Swiss star Cancellara, win first stage of Tour de France
Switzerland Olympic time-trial champion Fabian Cancellara won in first stage of Tour de France. Cancellara’s win in first stage would mean holding the yellow jersey.
Fabian Cancellara ended the first stage 15.5 kilometer run in 19 minutes and 32.24 seconds that followed by Alberto Contador, 19 minutes and 50 seconds which is 18 seconds between them by Cancellara.
“I am quite proud; I put in the maximum possible effort. I was one of the favorites to win here before the race and I knew if I got things right it would be very difficult for my rivals to beat me,” said Cancellara .
Cancellara was fellow citizen of tennis superstar Roger Federer who wants to surpass the 14th Grand Slam record of Pete Sampras.
“We might be from a small country, but we have talented sportsmen,” more of it.
Meanwhile, seven-times Tour champion Lance Armstrong, is good beginning as he return. Lance Armstrong place 10th and finish first stage 20 minutes and 12 seconds.
