Pacquiao, ESPN 2009 fighter of the Year

As expected 2009 fighter of the Year of the giant sports TV network ESPN the Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao. Manny Pacquiao beaten sports enthusiasts nominees like Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) Lyoto Machida and boxer Sugar Shane Mosley in online voting.

If Manny Pacquiao is the pound-for-pound king in boxing, Lyoto Machida is considered as the best pound-for-pound in mixed martial arts.

Many of the voters are wonder for Pacquaio as he won against former light-welterweight champion Ricky Hatton and Oscar de la Hoya.

Became nominees “Best Play” category the second round knockout Pacquiao against Hatton, but beaten by last-minute touchdown catch by Santonio Holmes of Pittsburgh Steelers for Super Bowl XLIII.

Pacquiao is one also select as “one of the world’s 100 most influential people” by Time Magazine and top 10 members of Forbes’ richest Athletes in the world.
