WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez formally start his training for his scheduled fight with his rival Floyd Mayweather, Jr. on July 18, at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
According to Marquez, his plan is to make his whole training in Mexico for the said fight, but because of spread-out of swine flu he was thinking to transfer to Big Bear, California for the continuation of his training.
Marquez is the underdog of this fight because Mayweather Jr. is bigger than him, but Marquez believe to himself that he will defeat Mayweather.
“I’m positive that I’m going to beat Mayweather. It’s true that he has a two inch height advantage, a little bit more reach and he is a great fighter – but I know that he is beatable, and I will do just that on July 18,” said Marquez.
In addition, this is not the first time that he will be the underdog, in there last two fights with Pacquiao he will always the underdog.
“Even though I lost the rematch by one point and had a draw in the other, I am sure I won both fights. Pacquiao said that he hoped to fight Mayweather in November, because Mayweather is going to win over me, but that won’t happen. In November, I will be his opponent.” said Marquez.
